Class of 2026 Learns Professional Skills Through Alumna-Led LinkedIn Workshop

Upper School seniors participated in a LinkedIn workshop led by a 2017 alumna, gaining insights into creating professional profiles and networking effectively.
At St. Margaret’s, community extends far beyond current families, encompassing faculty, staff, alumni and parents who remain deeply connected to the school. Last week, Upper School seniors experienced that connection firsthand during a LinkedIn workshop led by alumna Shara Famili, class of 2017.

The workshop provided the Class of 2026 with practical guidance on creating professional profiles, networking effectively, and mastering LinkedIn etiquette. Ms. Famili, who works in commercial real estate in Newport Beach and graduated from the University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business, returned to campus for the second consecutive year to mentor seniors in this important step toward their professional futures. She is also a member of the Tartan Alumni Council.

Lynda Collier, director of alumni relations, emphasized the value of connecting students with alumni expertise. “This is a way for alumni to support students who will soon join the ranks of St. Margaret’s graduates,” she said, highlighting St. Margaret’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond graduation.

St. Margaret’s 2025 Strategic Plan calls for the school to increase “engagement with alumni, university partnerships and technology solutions to drive career development, mentorship and social mobility.” The LinkedIn workshop, along with the recently launched Tartan Exchange, provides platforms for the alumni community to share career guidance and professional experiences with current St. Margaret’s students.
