Strategic Plan Update: Tartan Exchange Connecting St. Margaret’s Community for Mentorship, Insight and Career Guidance

The development of the Tartan Exchange aligns with priorities in the school's Strategic Plan, which calls for the school to increase “engagement with alumni ... to drive career development, mentorship and social mobility.”
St. Margaret’s celebrates a close-knit community that reaches far beyond its current families, encompassing faculty, staff, and thousands of alumni and parents of alumni who remain deeply connected to the school.

Supporting and uplifting one another is a defining trait of the Tartan community, and a new strategic priority is designed to strengthen that commitment.

This school year marked the launch of the Tartan Exchange, a LinkedIn group designed to bring together the professional network of alumni, parents of alumni, current parents, Upper School seniors and members of the professional community who want to share their experience and career guidance with fellow Tartans.

The development of the Tartan Exchange aligns with priorities in the school’s 2025 Strategic Plan, which among other initiatives calls for the school to increase “engagement with alumni, university partnerships and technology solutions to drive career development, mentorship and social mobility.”

“By joining the Tartan Exchange group, the St. Margaret’s community can help strengthen the school community of lifelong learners and leaders who give back through connection, care and service,” said Lynda Collier, St. Margaret’s director of alumni relations. “The feedback so far has been very positive and we envision this group growing as our school community joins and shares their experiences and insight around education, career development and personal growth.”

Mrs. Collier has spread the word of the Tartan Exchange through St. Margaret’s many alumni touchpoints, including email communications, class reunions and Tartan alumni gatherings that took place in New York City and San Francisco in the fall.

There will also be a connection with Upper School seniors this week during a LinkedIn workshop led by Mrs. Collier, which will introduce students to the networking platform and the opportunities within Tartan Exchange.
