Lower School students in grade 4 attended a unique and inspiring musical experience at the annual Koncert for Kids, a dynamic multimedia event performed by the South Coast Symphony. Designed specifically for young audiences, the concert is a key highlight in local arts education programming, offering students a thrilling introduction to the world of live symphonic music.
Grade 4 students experienced the interactive and educational event that combines the power of a full professional orchestra with animated storytelling, narration, and multimedia elements tailored to engage Lower School students.
The Lower School students explored a rich variety of musical genres including classical masterpieces, jazz, and film scores, while gaining a deeper understanding of how an orchestra works. A highlight of the program was a performance by a talented young soloist, offering a peer example of musical excellence and inspiration.
The concert also included age-appropriate instruction on concert etiquette, the roles of various instrument families, and the responsibilities of the conductor to introduce grade 4 students to an immersive behind-the-scenes look at live performance.
“Attending this event always offers our grade 4 students a meaningful, fun way to experience the orchestra in an age-appropriate and memorable format,” said Linling Hsu, orchestra director.
