St. Margaret's Advances to CIF Semifinals With 3-1 Win Over Saugus
Girls volleyball bounced back after a first-set loss to get the win.
St. Margaret's girls volleyball program downed Saugus High School 3-1 (27-29, 25-22, 25-22, 25-20) on Wednesday in the CIF-SS Div. III quarterfinal round.
On the road, in front of a spirited Saugus crowd, the Tartans dropped the first set to the Centurions 27-29, but battled back to win the next three and the match to advance to the semifinals. The Tartans' exceptional serving game applied steady pressure on Saugus, with St. Margaret's tallying 97 successful serves over 100 attempts.
St. Margaret's outside hitters Ella Massoudi (24 kills, .273 efficiency) and Sami Duran (21 kills, .302 hitting percentage) turned in stellar performances for the Tartans. Sarah MacDonald led the defensive effort with 30 digs on the night.
The 18-10 Tartans will face 19-12 Cypress High School in the semifinal round at home on Saturday, November 1.
