St. Margaret’s Memorable 2022-2023 School Year Concludes at All-School Closing Ceremony

A joyful ceremony that brought together students, professional community and parents closed out a memorable 2022-2023 school year.
A joyful ceremony that brought together students, professional community and parents closed out a memorable 2022-2023 school year on Wednesday, as the All-School Closing Ceremony celebrated achievements, milestones and more inside Pasternack Field House.

The school community sang songs, celebrated the last day of school and gave special recognition to the Class of 2023, which will officially graduate during Commencement Exercises at St. Margaret’s on Saturday. Also recognized was the Class of 2027 moving to the Upper School and the Class of 2030 moving to the Middle School.

And, there was a surprise—a touching farewell gift for Head of School Will Moseley, who is finishing his final school year at St. Margaret’s. One of Mr. Moseley’s most celebrated and beloved sayings—“I See You”—was turned into a beautiful piece of art overseen by six Upper School students as a collaborative piece worked on by students in every division of the school.

The All-School Closing Ceremony also marks an opportunity to pass out two special school community awards. Senior Hayden Mann was honored with the David G. Boyle Lifetime Service Award, given to a lifetime Tartan student whose service and dedication to the school best reflects the extraordinary contributions of the late David Boyle, former Associate Head of School, Upper School Principal and Faculty Emeritus who worked at St. Margaret’s from 1980 to 2012.

There was also the Susan A. Remsberg Award, which was awarded to Early Childhood School administrative assistant Lisa Mers. The award is given annually to a member of the St. Margaret’s professional community for outstanding contributions and significant impact on the school community, exemplifying a profound commitment to St. Margaret’s mission and core values in the past year or recent years. St. Margaret’s had a special guest on Wednesday, as faculty emeritus Susan Remsberg was in attendance to present the award.

Mr. Moseley also recognized Devin Thomas and Charlotte Quintanar of the Class of 2023, who will serve as alumni class agents in the coming years by partnering with the alumni relations office to ensure their classmates’ connection to St. Margaret’s remains strong.

In addition, the ceremony honored members of the professional community who are either retiring or celebrating milestone anniversaries at the school. That included College Counseling assistant Liz Kelly, who was named Professional Community Emeritus—the highest honor St. Margaret’s bestows on a member of the professional community—for 26 years of service to the school.
