Peer Counselors Lead Students in the Return of Wellness Initiative

St. Margaret’s all-school counselors in addition to the Peer Counselors student leadership group hosted students for acai bowls and wellness as a fun way to emphasize healthy choices.
Last week, St. Margaret’s all-school counselors in addition to the Peer Counselors student leadership group hosted students for acai bowls and wellness as a fun way to emphasize healthy choices and the benefits of consuming superfoods. What began as a creative approach to student wellness has quickly become a beloved tradition at St. Margaret’s.

This is the third year that the all-school counselors, alongside St. Margaret’s Peer Counselors, introduced an acai bowl and wellness initiative as a way to spark conversations about healthy choices and the powerful connection between nutrition, physical health, and mental well-being.

The event invited students to learn how everyday food choices—particularly the inclusion of nutrient-rich superfoods—can support both body and mind. Framed in a fun and accessible way, the initiative empowered students with practical information while creating a welcoming space for connection and curiosity.

Building on last year’s success, the counselors brought the program back this year in partnership with Alohana, expanding the experience to include additional elements of comfort and creativity. Students enjoyed fresh acai bowls, a visit from Dexter, a friendly therapy dog, as well as hands-on craft activities that encouraged relaxation and self-expression.

At the heart of the event were the Peer Counselors, a vital student leadership program at St. Margaret’s. Serving students across all divisions, Peer Counselors play a key role in promoting community, care, and connection, while modeling the school’s core value and fostering a culture of wellness and support.

The Peer Counseling program is a pillar of St. Margaret’s student wellness initiatives, which is designed to promote health, well-being, and safety through peer education. Older students are carefully selected through a competitive application process and undergo specialized training to become active listeners and trusted support for their fellow students.
