Middle and Upper School dancers took the stage in the Hurlbut Theater last week for the annual Winter Dance Concert, presenting a wide range of styles and holiday-themed pieces that showcased strong technique, creative storytelling and collaboration across grade levels. The concert showcased dynamic choreography and standout featured performances.
Director of Dance Kirsten Harvey praised the students’ preparation and artistry. “The dancers' performance was a beautiful blend of discipline, artistry, and heart,” she said. “They transformed the stage.” Each student learned new skills, performance strategies, and choreographic techniques.
One of the evening’s standout moments came from Common App, an original work choreographed by Upper School student Paige Minton as part of the Advanced Dance and Composition Honors curriculum. Mrs. Harvey praised the piece as “well crafted” and noted that it “featured all the dancers in her class." Upper School performer Drake Harvey also drew recognition for a compelling performance that earned enthusiastic applause.
Meanwhile, Middle School dancers delivered spirited, crowd-pleasing numbers that brought humor and fresh energy to the program, rounding out a vibrant and memorable night of performances.
The celebration continued the following afternoon with the Winter Dance Conservatory Informal Sharing, where Early School and Lower School students showcased their developing skills for families and friends. The event offered an inside look at the Dance Conservatory program and showcased the enthusiasm and emerging talent of St. Margaret’s youngest performers.
