Girls Basketball are Mariner Mayhem Tournament Champs!
The Tartans defeated Eaglecrest High School from Colorado 56-54 for the crown.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program captured the Pacifica High School Mariner Mayhem Tournament title, defeating Eaglecrest High School from Colorado 56-54 Saturday night.
Jayden Witten (32 points, 5 rebounds) drained the winning basket with 15 seconds left in the game to propel the Tartans past the Raptors in a thrilling championship bout. Witten, who averaged 23.3 ppg and 7.5 rpg across four games, was named Tournament MVP for her efforts.
Lila Wohlgemuth (11.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.3 spg) notched 11 points and 9 rebounds in the title game while Taylor Francois (10.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5 apg) added 8 points and 4 assists. Tilda Curran brought down 10 rebounds in the championship.
To get to the title game, the Tartans downed Valencia 63-42, El Toro 52-46 and Marina 53-28.
Up next for St. Margaret's is El Dorado High School in a CHOC Showcase game on Saturday, Dec. 20.
