Tartan Jam Showcases Talented Upper School Students

Upper School students took the stage for an evening of informal performances showcasing remarkable artistry and musical talent.
The McGregor Family Theater buzzed with energy this week as Upper School students took the stage for an evening of informal performances showcasing remarkable artistry and musical talent. The event offered a relaxed and supportive setting for both seasoned performers and those stepping into the spotlight for the first time.

The night opened with an elegant piano performance by Kaili Zhang, whose rendition of Mendelssohn’s “Lieder ohne Worte.” The trio of Audrey Ma, Kaili Zhang, and Annie Zhao followed with harmonization of Laufey’s “From the Start.” As the evening progressed, Max He delivered a virtuosic performance of Liszt’s Etude Paganini No. 16.

Mac Ullem, Kevin Hasani, Bodhi Illenberger, and Griffin Illenberger brought the rock classic “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin to life. Reese Maciariello then shared an original song, “Secretly in Love,” offering a moment of vulnerability and authenticity. The evening culminated in a powerful ensemble finale as Kevin Hasani, Griffin Illenberger, Mac Ullem, Ethan Whitehead, and Misha Dobrynin delivered a stunning rendition of the Foo Fighters’ “Everlong,” closing the show on a note of unity and passion.

The diverse lineup reflected the creativity and enthusiasm of the talented Upper School students. Families, friends, and fellow Tartans filled the seats, cheering each act and celebrating the performers’ dedication and artistry.

Designed as an encouraging opportunity to explore and grow, the night emphasized fun, community, and the joy of live performance. “It’s all about giving students a chance to share their talents in a space that feels welcoming,” said Chris Carbajal, band director.
