St. Margaret’s professional community kicked off its opening meetings this week with a compelling talk on dignity and the school’s Episcopal identity by Dr. Beth-Sarah Wright.

Dr. Wright is an educator and author with a lifelong Episcopal background. She spoke to the professional community on the basic principles of the Episcopal tenets, which calls for individuals and institutions to strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being.

Calling dignity a “human imperative,” Dr. Wright spoke in-depth about how St. Margaret’s Episcopal identity can positively shape a diverse school community, noting that “everyone deserves to be seen and recognized just as they are.”

She shared seven actionable tenets of the “dignity lens” which are designed to help identify an organization’s purpose, articulate aspirations, and equip one’s self for the opportunities and challenges of honoring a school’s mission.
Dr. Wright emphasized that St. Margaret’s is well-aligned with its Episcopal identity and values, which she framed through the lens of:
  • Diversity
  • Identity
  • Growth
  • Nurture
  • Integrity
  • Transparency
  • Yield
The session served as a source of inspiration and reflection as the professional community looks ahead to the 2025–2026 school year. In addition to school-wide professional development, each division held planning meetings focused on academic goals, student health and well-being, and strategic priorities, ensuring a thoughtful and mission aligned start to the year.

Faculty and staff are now preparing for the new school year, which begins next week for Upper School, Middle School and Lower School.
