Tartan Football Cruises to 54-6 Win Over Estancia

St. Margaret's triumphed in the one-sided affair.
It was all St. Margaret's, all evening Friday night, as the Tartans defeated Orange Coast League foe Estancia High School 54-6 on Tartan Field.

The Tartans got off to a quick start, with quarterback Max Ruff (16 for 18, 263 yds, 5 TD) finding Will Viola (2 catches, 43 yds, 1 TD) for a 31-yard touchdown strike followed by a Matt Arena (6 rushes, 53 yds, 1 rush TD) rushing score four minutes later, for a comfortable 12-0 St. Margaret's lead in the first quarter.

St. Margaret's never looked back as a host of Tartans found the end zone in the second quarter. Ruff had his choice of targets: Russell Frye (4 catches, 67 yds, 1 TD), Maverick Young (3 catches, 72 yds, 2 TD) and Arena (2 catches, 33 yds, 1TD) extended the lead to 35-0 at the half.

The Tartan defense was a force to be reckoned with all night, holding the Eagles to just 39 yards passing and 52 yards on the ground. Led by Battle Gideons (8 tackles, 1 sack), Jack Clausner (8 tackles), Hao Chang ( 3 tackles, 1 sack) and Reece Ballard (5 tackles) frustrated the Eagle attack. The Tartan secondary kept the sky clear, with Angel Cruz-Sanchez notching a pick-six while Luke Newman and Sam Orellana each brought down a key interception. Caleb Beadel added a late scoop and score to close out the Game.

St. Margaret's will enjoy a bye week before facing visiting Costa Mesa at Homecoming on Friday, October 13.
