FTC Robotics Team Finishes Successful Season

FTC is a robotics competition for students to design, build, program and operate robots, which compete in head-to-head challenges against other schools.
St. Margaret’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics team of Upper and Middle School students wrapped up its season last week at the inter-league finals in Perris, taking on competition from leagues in both Orange County and Los Angeles.

FTC is a robotics competition for students to design, build, program and operate robots, which compete in head-to-head challenges against other schools.

St. Margaret’s team competed as the “Fedora Bots by SMES” and advanced to the final round as a top-8 team out of 24 participating in the inter-league finals. In addition, sophomore team captain Espen Garner was named a semifinalist for the Dean’s List Award and was honored as the lone nominee from the region.

The St. Margaret’s FTC team is made up of 11 students in both Upper School and Middle School. The team competed in five competitions this school year. They also demonstrated their creation last week at Lower School STEAM Night and allowed attendees to operate the robot.
