St. Margaret's Girls Basketball Opens CIF Postseason with 65-25 Win
The Tartans are looking to make a deep run in the playoffs.
The Tartan girls basketball program jumped out to a quick start and won, 65-25, over Grand Terrace High School in the opening round of the CIF-SS Div. 5AA playoffs Thursday evening.
Lila Wohlgemuth and Sophie Gazzaniga had career-high 19 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Tartans over the Titans in front of a supportive crowd in Pasternack Field House. Tyler Francois added 12 points in the win. Overall, the Tartans had 31 steals, 38 offensive rebounds and 20 assists against Grand Terrace.
"Our girls did a great job competing on every possession throughout the game. It was great to see so many players impact the game in a variety of ways," said head coach Josh Markum. "We quickly turn our attention to a very hot and talented second-round opponent Ocean View High."
The Tartans will travel to Huntington Beach to take on the Seahawks on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.
