The Tartans had its first defeat of the season on Thursday afternoon. Despite strong performances from captain Gabby Eifrig and Kate Lee, who shot 37 (+1) and 38 (+2) respectively, the Tartans came up short with a 278-267 loss at home to Westminster. The Tartans have split their season matchup with Westminster. Both teams are now 9-1 and tied for first place in the Orange Coast League. The Tartans take on Estancia and Calvary Chapel Santa Ana next week.
The varsity girls golf team continued to make St. Margaret’s proud with their 9th straight victory on Tuesday afternoon, beating Orange High School by 100 strokes. The Tartans were led by team captain Gabby Eifrig who finished with 4 birdies and a score of 33 (-3) on the scorecard. Joy Mao, Madison Lewis, Jenny Cha and Ella Eggert also contributed to the victory with scores of 43 (+7), 47 (+11), 58 (+22) and 64 (+28) respectively. The Tartans will face Westminster High at home on Thursday.
The Tartans girls golf team continued its winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Costa Mesa High School on the road 202 to 267. The Tartan lead scorers were captain Gabby Eifrig with a 35 (+0) and freshman Jessica Liu with a 36 (+1). Jessica scored an amazing hole in one on hole #2 - a rare feat. Also contributing to the win were Madison Lewis, Rianne Ke, and Amber Lin who shot 43 (+8), 43 (+8) and 44 (+9) respectively. St. Margaret’s will take on Orange High School and Westminster High School next week.
On Monday afternoon, the Tartans girls golf team came away with a victory against Ocean View High School at David Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley, CA. Winning 200 strokes to 231 strokes, St. Margaret’s reaches the halfway point of the season at a perfect 7-0. Leading the way for the Tartans was captain Gabby Eifrig who shot a 29 (-2), with three birdies and five pars on the day. Freshman Jessica Liu had the second lowest score on the day with a 36 (+5). Branda Hu, Jenny Cha and Karyssa Valdez also contributed to the victory, shooting 40 (+9), 39 (+8), and 56 (+25) respectively. The Tartans will take on Costa Mesa in an away match on Wednesday.
The Tartans were triumphant again on Monday afternoon, defeating Cavalry Chapel 257-309 on the road at Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana. Leading the way were team captain Gabby Eifrig and freshman sensation Jessica Liu who both shot 38 (+3). Freshmen Natalie Killer and Daniella Undergraph, along with Rianne Ke and Branda Hu, also contributed to the win. St. Margaret’s will try to keep the winning steak going when they take on Katella High School on Thursday.
St. Margaret's Golf kept its winning streak going with a victory at home against Estancia High School on Thursday afternoon. Despite temperatures that neared 100 degrees, the Tartans delivered their fourth straight victory, winning 209 strokes to 299 strokes. The low score of the day was turned in by freshman phenom Jessica Liu who shot an even par 36 (+0), with a birdie and 7 pars. Team captain Gabby Eifrig turned in the second lowest score with a 38 (+2) with 2 birdies and 5 pars on the day. Rianne Ke, Madison Lewis and Kate Lee also contributed to the victory with strong rounds, shooting 43 (+7), 45 (+9) and 46 (+10) respectively. The golf team will look for further success next week when they will take on Cavalry Chapel Santa Ana on the road and Katella High School at home.
The Tartans Varsity Girls Golf Team was victorious again on Tuesday night. Playing in an away match at Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach, St. Margaret’s beat Westminster High 192-225. Leading the way for the team were the jaw dropping performances of junior Gabby Eifrig and freshman Jessica Liu, who shot 30 (-6) and 34 (-2). 6 under par was a career best for Gabby who had an eagle, 4 birdies and 4 pars on the day. Liu also had an amazing day finishing with 3 birdies and 5 pars. Also contributing to the victory were Tartan standouts Madison Lewis, Branda Hu and Amber Lin who turned in scores of 39 (+3), 47 (+11), and 42 (+6). The Tartans take on Estancia High School at home on Thursday afternoon.
Playing on the road against Orange High School, the Tartans were victorious for the second time in as many days on Wednesday afternoon. Playing in sweltering 100 degree heat at River View Golf Course, the match was truncated to only 6 holes and resulted in a 150-209 victory for the Tartans. Leading the way for the Tartans were junior Gabby Eifrig, sophomore Madison Lewis and freshman Jessica Liu who impressively scored 23, 24, 24 (+1, +2, +2) respectively. Sophomore Branda Hu contributed with a score of 36 (+14), as did Lola Quan with a 43 (+21). The Tartans will look to continue their success next week with matches against Westminster High School and Estancia High School.
The Tartans girls golf team, in their first match back after winning a CIF Championship in 2021, handily defeated Costa Mesa High School 213-303 at San Juan Hills Golf Course on Tuesday. The team was led by team captain Gabby Eifrig, who with three birdies and four pars, turned in an impressive one under par score of 35. Also contributing to the Tartans' victory were returning players Madison Lewis and Rianne Ke who scored 45 and 43, respectively. Jessica Liu and Amber Lin, both freshmen playing in their first official matches ever, also turned in impressive cards with scores of 43 and 47, respectively. With the victory, the Tartans girls golf program began its membership in the Orange Coast League strong and looks forward to continued success when they play Wednesday on the road against Orange High School.
