St. Margaret's defeated Sts. Simon and Jude 14-6 on Thursday.
The Mountain ”A” Flag Football traveled to Sts. Simon and Jude on Thursday and gutted out a 14-6 win, advancing to the semi-finals of the Parochial Athletic League Playoffs. The team, shorthanded due to injuries and illness, entered the game with only eight players but those were all the Tartans needed to come out on top! Sts. Simon and Jude had several offensive possessions that brought them into scoring position, but the Tartans defense held them to only one scoring touchdown and even stopped their two-point conversion.
With the score tied at 6 and little time left on the clock, the Tartans drove down the field with pinpoint passing, scored and were successful on their two-point conversion. It was time for the defense to step up once again and they made the Dolphins turn it over on downs as the clock ran out to secure the 14-6 win.
The team will face St. Serra Catholic for the third time this season in the semi-finals next Thursday, November 8 at St. Mary’s in Aliso Viejo.
