Exciting Summer Campus Improvement Projects Coming Next Year!

The 2017-2018 school year has just concluded, and campus improvements for next school year are already beginning.
This summer, St. Margaret’s Episcopal School is embarking on many exciting campus improvement projects that are aligned with the Campus Master Plan and the Strategic Plan and will further enhance the student learning experience. The projects are scheduled to be completed for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

Through the 2018 STEAM Fund A Need, St. Margaret’s will renovate the Lower School Science Lab and STEAM Learning Center, including the ICE Lab and the CUBE maker spaces. Additionally, the school will build an additional new Upper School Physics and Engineering Lab to meet increased student demand for advanced study in the sciences. The new spaces will be custom-designed learning environments and outfitted with modern, flexible furnishings and fixtures, as well as state-of-the-art lab equipment, technologies and tools meeting the curriculum and student learning where it is today and well-positioned to support where it will evolve tomorrow.

In tandem with the STEAM construction projects, St. Margaret’s will complete phase two of an Upper School remodeling project that began last summer. This summer, all science classrooms will be remodeled, and new interactive technologies and new furnishings will be added to all classrooms. The Upper School will also create a dedicated student quiet study room.

In the Lower School, all Kindergarten classrooms will relocate from the Preschool to the main Lower School campus along the south side, and three new classrooms will be renovated and customized at the south side of the Sillers Hall wing for grade 5 classrooms. A new Lower School Outdoor Classroom will be created to expand the outdoor curriculum, STEAM and experimentation. The existing outdoor spaces surrounding the Lower School campus will be transformed to include gross and fine motor areas, new play structures, stages and music areas, a garden, sand and water play areas, swings, tricycle area, reading nooks, hammocks and an outdoor STEAM area. The lunch table areas will be reconfigured for all students, and the Lower School natural turf field will be resurfaced.

All school offices will remain open during summer construction activities. We are excited to begin these important campus improvement projects that will enrich the daily educational experience of our students, and we appreciate your patience through construction.
