She will join actors, dancers and musicians from across the region at the 2,200-seat Walt Disney Concert Hall for the Spotlight Grand Finale Performance.
St. Margaret’s junior Jeni Bauer was named a grand prize finalist in the Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight program, and will perform with the 13 other finalists at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on May 23.

As part of the prestigious honor, Jeni also receives a $5,000 scholarship and a scholarship to the 2018 Aspen Music Festival.

Jeni is one of 14 grand prize finalists out of 1,300 Spotlight participants across Southern California, and the only female grand prize finalist in the classical voice category. She will join actors, dancers and musicians from across the region at the 2,200-seat Walt Disney Concert Hall for the Spotlight Grand Finale Performance.

“I am so happy that Jeni is being recognized by the Music Center Spotlight program,” said Darcy Rice, St. Margaret’s director of the arts. “Jeni is a dedicated musician with high standards. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence is an inspiration to others in our music and drama programs.”

As part of the competition, Jeni went through two preliminary auditions and a live audition in the semifinal round before being named a grand prize finalist.

The Los Angeles Music Center is one of the largest performing arts centers in the country, consisting of four iconic venues on a 22-acre campus. In addition to being an events destination, the Music Center also runs several educational programs. That includes the Spotlight program, which identifies, engages and supports high school artists in dance, voice, acting and music. Besides the competition, the program encourages personal and artistic growth through written feedback from judges, master classes with world-renowned artists and the chance for live auditions and performances in famous music venues.
