Baseball and Girls Lacrosse Pick Up Wins, Boys Volleyball Continues to Roll

The Tartan baseball and girls lacrosse programs notched their first wins this week, while boys volleyball remains undefeated at 4-0.
St. Margaret's baseball and girls lacrosse programs found success this week, recording their first wins of the 2017 season. Boys volleyball continued its undefeated run, downing the CIF-SS Division III No. 4-ranked San Juan Hills Stallions 3-0.

Baseball

The Tartans matched up against a talented Rancho Christian squad on Tuesday, coming out on top 9-6. St. Margaret's was led offensively by Auston Locke who scored two runs while Alex Smith had a RBI in the win. Defensively, Alex Smith and Logan Smith had a great day, saving three runs with stellar play in the field.

On the bump for the Tartans, Jake Carmer had three strikeouts and recorded the win with zero earned runs. James Mott had the save, pitching a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

Girls Lacrosse

St. Margaret's rebounded from a tough 22-10 loss to 2016 Tennessee State Champion Hutchinson School on March 10 by downing Aliso Niguel 23-13 this past Tuesday. The Tartans were led by Niki Miles's eight goals and two assists. Maddie Barkate added five goals and two assists while Campbell Case had four goals and two assists. Cailin Young was tenacious at the draw circle, winning 12 while also contributing two goals and four assists.

Defensively for the Tartans, Ashlee Caruana picked up three ground balls and had one interception and one take away. Ellie Jones was steadfast in the goal, recording 13 saves on 26 shots.

Boys Volleyball

The Tartans faced two top-ranked opponents in Laguna Blanca (No. 9 in CIF-SS Div. III) and San Juan Hills (No. 4) this past week, defeating both handily. CIF-SS Div. IV No. 2 St. Margaret's blanked both teams 3-0 in road contests.

Against San Juan Hills, Ethan Hill tallied 12 kills, two blocks and 1 ace while Matt Hamadani led the team with 12 digs.

The 4-0 Tartans will look to improve their record against Academy League opponent Brethren Christian at home on Friday, March 17 starting at 4 p.m.
