Tartan Volleyball Sneaks By CC Santa Ana to Remain Undefeated in League

St. Margaret's gutted out a 3-2 win on Wednesday.
On Wednesday evening, the Tartan boys volleyball team had to dig deep to overcome a stubborn Calvary Chapel Santa Ana squad 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-9).

The Tartans were put on their heels by a strong first-set win by a fired-up Calvary Chapel team. St. Margaret's faced tough serving from Calvary Chapel, including two different jump servers who did not miss until very late in the match.

Reed Wainwright again led the way with 32 kills, hitting a strong .450 despite a heavy load of 71 sets. Wainwright also added a team-high 15 digs. Beckett Harvey added 15 kills, hitting an exceptional .790, while Luke Balint added 7 additional kills.

"I was proud of our resiliency in overcoming a slow start, especially after falling behind 2-1 and fighting hard to win the last two sets," said head coach Bob Yoder. "In the last two sets, the team hit at an exceptional .420 clip and made the big plays when it counted the most."

The 26-4 (12-0 in league) Tartans will take on cross-town foe JSerra on Thursday, April 18 at home, at 5:30 p.m.
Update: No. 4 St. Margaret's defeated No. 3 JSerra 3-2 in a non-league CIF Div. III battle.
