St. Margaret's girls basketball program advanced with a stunning victory.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program advanced to the CIF-SS Div. 3A Semifinals with a 53-31 victory over visiting San Jacinto High School Wednesday night.

Harper Gideons notched her 900th career point on the way to a 21-point, 7-rebound performance for the Tartans. Taylor Francois (10 pts) tied a St. Margaret's record for free throws made in a season (88), while Lila Wohlgemuth contributed 9 points in the win.

"I couldn't be happier for these kids. They showed a ton of toughness defensively and executed with poise on the offensive end. They approached Monday and Tuesday's practices with that same poise and toughness, so it was great to see it all come together in a big game," said head coach Josh Markum. "We are looking forward to the next couple of days in preparing for a great opponent with a chance to get back to the final."

The Tartans will next face Saint Monica Prep on the road in the CIF-SS Div. 3A Semifinal on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
