Class of 2024 Enjoying Early Success in College-Admissions Process

The 122 students of St. Margaret’s Class of 2024 were hard at work during the early-admission period for colleges and universities.
The 122 students of St. Margaret’s Class of 2024 were hard at work during the early-admission period for colleges and universities, narrowing down their lists, fine-tuning their essays and collectively submitting 1,839 applications to 268 schools around the world.

It has paid off, too—to date, 93 percent of St. Margaret’s senior class has at least one offer of admission—with many colleges and universities, including the University of California schools, still evaluating submitted applications.

In total, 34 students (27% of the class) have already decided where they will enroll. Some made their decisions around the athletic signing periods—St. Margaret’s had 13 seniors commit to play intercollegiate athletics during the fall and winter signing periods—while others have committed through binding early decision.

Those seniors who have finalized their matriculation plans will go to colleges and universities such as Duke University, New York University, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Syracuse University, University of Oregon, Boston College and the University of Miami.

The College Counseling Office—which includes Director of College Counseling Elise Rodriguez, Senior Associate Director of College Counseling Amy Warren and Associate Directors of College Counseling Erica Huerta and Ben Lah—have worked hard to support the Class of 2024 throughout the college-admissions process. The Class of 2024 benefited from an expanded College Group Meeting programming during their junior year, in addition to the opportunity to meet with representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities at St. Margaret’s, as well as one-on-one meetings with their designated college counselors and writing specialists assisting with essays.

The college admissions process is ongoing, as some early applications are still awaiting a response. Admissions decisions will continue to roll in until April, with Class of 2024 students making their final commitment by May.
