St. Margaret's Girls Basketball Survives Second-Round Tilt vs. Millikan

The Tartans defeated the Rams 46-41 on the road Saturday.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program continued its quest for a second CIF-SS title Saturday, downing Millikan High School 46-41 in front of the Rams' raucous home crowd.

Harper Gideons notched 16 points and 5 rebounds while Lila Wohlgemuth (12 pts, 5 steals) and Taylor Francois (11 pts, 4 assists)  kept the Tartans' title hopes intact. Annika Tufo contributed 5 points and 17 rebounds in the win.

"Our girls showed a ton of toughness on Saturday night," said head coach Josh Markum. "Their poise and maturity were on full display in a hostile environment against a tough opponent. I'm extremely proud of their ability to be present in the moment and take full advantage of the opportunity in front of them. This Wednesday, we will face a very tough and talented team from San Jacinto."

The Tartans will look to advance to the CIF-SS Div. 3A Semifinals and gain a berth in the State Tournament as they take on a skilled San Jacinto High squad on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. in Pasternack Fieldhouse.
