Tartans Sink Saints 2-0 in Boys Soccer

St. Margaret's improves to 1-1 in league play.
St. Margaret's boys soccer captured a crucial 2-0 league victory over hosts Santa Ana High School Friday evening at the Santa Ana Bowl. The win marks the Tartans' first league win in the 23-24 campaign.

The Tartans relied on improved possession rates and a stifling defensive effort to keep Santa Ana in check throughout the game. St. Margaret's hard work was rewarded as Michalis Karmis opened the scoring for the Tartans in the 30th minute on a crisp assist by Ethan Stolper. Stolper followed on 10 minutes into the second half, slotting the Tartans' second goal home on the Rishabh Mallela assist. Goalkeeper Mason Allison preserved the clean sheet, turning away 14 Saint attempts.

"We proved to ourselves we are much better than what our pre-season results show," said head coach Peter Carey. "Although it is coming together a little later than hoped, we will surprise some non-believers this season!"

The Tartans return to the pitch to face league opponent Saddleback High School on Tartan Field on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m.
