Legacy Grandparent Reception Celebrates Multigenerational St. Margaret’s Families

St. Margaret’s welcomed a special group of more than 20 legacy grandparents for a reception at the Head of School residence. 

The legacy grandparents are a growing community at St. Margaret’s. The attendees at the reception had their children at St. Margaret’s and now have grandchildren at St. Margaret’s, as well. In total, more than 50 current students have at least one parent who also attended St. Margaret’s, a number that continues to grow. 

The Legacy Grandparent reception was a way to bring these special Tartans together and thank them for their longtime support of the school. 

“As St. Margaret’s was founded in 1979, we are now entering this wonderful time in our school’s history where our community starts to become truly multigenerational,” Head of School Jeneen Graham said. “The last six graduating classes have had at least one student with a parent who also graduated from St. Margaret’s, and more are on the way. 

“It is truly an honor to recognize those who built these strong ties to St. Margaret’s. They believed in our school when it was still very young. They were the builders and architects of our future, served on the Board of Trustees, engaged with or led the PTF, participated in events, attended performances, games, committee meetings and more. They entrusted St. Margaret’s with their children, and now their grandchildren. We are so grateful for their longtime support.”

The reception featured remarks from Joe Janczyk, who’s children are alumni Scott ’02 and Paul ’04 and who now has two grandchildren enrolled at the school. Joe and Leita Janczyk have been instrumental in building the legacy grandparent community at St. Margaret’s.
