Tartan Girls Golf and Tennis Programs Excel in Post-Season Competition

St. Margaret's displayed its many talents on the course and on the courts this week.
St. Margaret's girls golf and tennis programs wrapped up their regular seasons with perfect records and now look to make deep runs in CIF-SS competition.

Girls Golf

Three Tartans—Gabby Eifrig, Jessica Liu and Annie Weng—participated in the CIF-SS Southern Regional Individual Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club this past Tuesday, facing over 100 of the best high school golfers in Southern California. Despite stiff competition, Gabby Eifrig again showed her talents, finishing fourth with a stellar 71 (-3). Annie Weng played to par with a 74, helped by sinking a 15-foot putt on the 17th hole to qualify. Jessica Liu represented St. Margaret's well, finishing in the top half of the field but just short of qualifying with a 79 (+5) on the day.

Eifrig and Weng will continue on to the SCGA Qualifier and CIF-SS Individual Championship on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. The Tartans will also compete at the CIF-SS Div. II Team Tournament beginning on Oct. 30.

Girls Tennis

The Tartans posted impressive results at the Orange Coast League Finals Wednesday and Thursday, with the doubles teams of Kate Purpura/Angela Liu and Caitlin Roberts/Alexa Edwards making it an all-St. Margaret's final round. Purpura and Liu emerged victorious, setting them up for an appearance at the CIF tournament on Nov. 20.

Fiona Bonilla Duncan notched a third-place finish in singles, while Emily Guerinot and Rylee Carlson finished third in doubles play.
