Fall Sports Finding Success in League Competition
The Tartans are compiling impressive results as the post-season approaches.
St. Margaret's fall sports have enjoyed continued achievement at the halfway mark of league play with an eye toward competing in the CIF-SS playoffs.
Girls Golf
The Tartans have amassed an incredible 15-0 record, defeating all comers by wide margins this fall. Most recently, St. Margaret's picked up wins against Estancia (225-295) and Calvary Chapel Santa Ana (195-305) to improve their Orange Coast League record to 12-0.
Annie Weng continued an impressive first-year campaign Tuesday, notching a 36 (+0), good for the round's lowest score against Estancia. Gabby Eifrig put in a solid performance against CC Santa Ana, turning in an impressive 34 (-1) to lead all golfers Wednesday.
St. Margaret's is looking forward to closing out the league season with contests against Ocean View and Katella next week.
Girls Tennis
St. Margaret's girls tennis program continued its dominating run through league opponents, downing Calvary Chapel 17-1 on Oct. 3 and Orange 18-0 on Oct. 5. The wins put the Tartans at 6-0 in league play and 8-2 overall.
"The team has made outstanding progress from the beginning of the season," said head coach Scott Lipsky. "We are starting to really gel as a group, and I am excited about the season's finish as we head into the CIF playoffs."
The Tartans will next face Santa Ana on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Saddleback College.
Girls Volleyball
The 9-0 in league Tartans swept Santa Ana 3-0 Thursday to stay at the top of the Orange Coast League table. Although currently unranked in Div. III, St. Margaret's is excited for another chance to capture its sixth CIF-SS Championship.
The Tartans return to the court to face Saddleback High School on the road on Monday, Oct. 9.
Football
The Tartans enjoyed a 54-6 win against Orange Coast League foe Estancia on Friday, Sept. 29, to move to 2-1 in league play. After a well-deserved bye week, the 3-4 and Div. VI No. 10 Tartans will face Costa Mesa for the Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
Cross Country
St. Margaret's cross-country continues to work toward the CIF Finals, heading to the Clovis Invitational this weekend in Fresno. The Tartans will use the event for a crucial mid-season status check before a full slate of October races, including the Orange County Championships on Oct. 13 and the Mt. SAC Invitational on Oct. 20.
