Pete Carey Returns as Head Coach of St. Margaret's Boys Soccer Program

Carey returns to St. Margaret's to lead the Upper School and Middle School programs.
St. Margaret's is pleased to announce that Peter Carey will return as head boys soccer coach effective immediately. Carey brings with him an impressive resume and deep ties to the local soccer community. Along with his head coaching duties, Carey will oversee the Tartan Middle School soccer program.
 
With over 30 years playing experience and over 15 years of competitive coaching experience, Carey recently served as an assistant coach with the 2023 CIF Southern Regional and CIF Div. I champion JSerra Catholic High School. Prior to his 2018-2020 tenure at St. Margaret's, Carey served as head varsity coach for boys soccer at San Juan Hills High School from 2011-2018 and was a junior varsity and assistant varsity coach at Capistrano Valley High School from 2008-2011, and the Capistrano Valley Christian girls varsity head coach from 2007-2008. Carey has also served as an assistant with Irvine Valley College's men's and women's programs since 2009, a director for the California Premier League and Capistrano F.C. club programs since 2006, and has also worked at the Chivas USA Academy and with the San Juan Soccer League.
 
As a youth, Carey played for the original San Clemente Soccer Club coached by Clyde Best (West Ham United), Martin McGrogan (Coventry), Paul Cahill (Portsmouth), and Laurie Abrahams (Charlton Athletic). He also played at San Clemente High School, coached by Mike Pronier.
 
After high school, Carey joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served with Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 267 (HMLA – 267), from 1994-1999.
 
Carey currently holds a USSF National C, NFHS Certs, and NSCAA License, and is a certified Cal South youth instructor.

My goal will be to continue the development of the Upper School and Middle School programs, growing them into elite-level teams," said Carey. "We want to be competitive at all levels and establish a high standard, goal-oriented pathway for our student-athletes to achieve greatness. I'm looking forward to getting started this summer."
