St. Margaret's boys basketball program battled back after a slow start for the win.
St. Margaret's varsity boys basketball program picked up a non-league win Thursday evening, defeating visiting Foothills Christian 92-81.
The Tartans had a sluggish defensive start to the game, but Russel Frye's 23 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists lifted the Tartans over the Knights. St. Margaret's shifted gears in the second half, with TJ Pavia finishing with 25 points, while Mark Cyr had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Danz contributed 15 points in the win.
"We started the game a little flat, in particular on the defensive end of the floor. However, I was really pleased with our second-half effort, and the kids stepped up to gain the victory," said head coach Chris Nordstrom. "Overall, the team is improving and ready for a challenging tournament next week."
The 3-1 Tartans will head to The Beach Bash Tournament at Corona del Mar High School beginning on Monday, Dec. 5.
