St. Margaret's Student-Athletes Commit to Top Colleges During Winter Signing Period

Three student-athletes from the Class of 2021 committed to continue their academic careers and play intercollegiate athletics during the winter signing period.
St. Margaret's Episcopal School is pleased to announce that three student-athletes from the Class of 2021 committed to play intercollegiate athletics next year during the winter National Signing Day. Seniors Jackson Adelman, Bryce Chan and Nick Ostlund will continue their academic pursuits and play their respective sport at an impressive group of colleges and universities.
 
Jackson Adelman, Williams College
 
Jackson Adelman, an integral part of the Tartan's success in Cross Country the past three years, has committed to study and run cross country and track and field at NCAA Division-III Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
 
Jackson is a 2019 CIF State Champion and a member of St. Margaret's 2018 and 2019 Southern Section Champion cross country squads. Jackson has been named an All-Orange County first-team selection in 2019 and 2020. Jackson also ran as the CIF State Cross Country Runner-up in 2018 and the CIF Div. IV Runner-up in the 1600m in 2019.
 
A champion in the classroom, Jackson was inducted into the Cum Laude Society in 2020 and was a 2020 George Washington Book Award recipient.
 
Jackson intends on majoring in physics at Williams.
 
Bryce Chan, New York University
 
Bryce Chan, a member of the 2019 St. Margaret's CIF State Soccer Championship team, has committed to study and play soccer at NCAA Division-III New York University in New York, New York.
 
Bryce, an outside back, has been a four-year member of the Tartans soccer program and has picked up a San Joaquin League First-Team nod. Bryce also has extensive experience at the club level, playing for West Coast Futbol Club and OC Surf.
 
Bryce volunteers her time with the National Charity League and has organized uniform and sports equipment drives for orphanages in Mexico, collecting over 450 uniforms and cleats. At St. Margaret's, Bryce serves as the ASB Vice President and has provided meals to local homeless through the advisory program.
 
Bryce intends on majoring in economics at NYU.
 
Nick Ostlund, University of Pennsylvania
 
Nick Ostlund, a member of the three-time league champion Tartan football program, has committed to study and play football at NCAA Division-I University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Penn.
 
Nick, a defensive lineman for Tartans, was a 2019 All San Joaquin League First-Team selection. Nick is also a mainstay on the hardwood for St. Margaret's basketball program.
 
In his free time, Nick volunteers at Brookdale Senior Living Home and at San Juan Elementary School.
 
Nick intends to major in real estate at UPenn.
 
"With all of the disruption that has occurred in athletics over the past year, it is a true accomplishment that these three student-athletes have the opportunity to continue their career in college, said Interim Director of Athletics Chris Nordstrom. "It is a testament to their character and perseverance that they have maintained a high level of performance both in their respective field of sport but also in the classroom."
