St. Margaret’s grade 7 student Christine Li was honored at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair, placing second place in the microbiology and cell biology category.

Christine’s project analyzed bacteria genomes in four-letter phrases and palindromes from a program she coded herself.

The 2020 Orange County Science and Engineer Fair was conducted virtually this year.

“We are very proud of Christine's effort and independent research in the field of cell biology,” Middle School science teacher Eric Harrington said. “It was inspiring to see her commitment and dedication to the sciences through her entry into this year’s OCSEF.”
