St. Margaret's soccer programs delivered Wednesday evening.
St. Margaret's boys and girls soccer programs were unstoppable Wednesday night, defeating Sage Hill and Capistrano Valley Christian, respectively.

Boys Soccer

The Tartans downed Sage Hill School 3-2 on Tartan Field Wednesday to notch their first league victory of the season.

St. Margaret's dominated the first half with Angel Cruz-Sanchez, Lucas Monge and Gareth Thomas all finding the back of the net in the first 40 minutes of play.

The Lightning staged a furious comeback in the second frame and came close many times to scoring an equalizer. Goalkeeper Mason Allison kept the Tartans in control, turning away many late Sage Hill opportunities to seal the win.

The 4-1-1 (1-0-1 league) Tartans will next face 1-4-1 (0-0-1) Woodbridge on Friday, Dec. 12, at home.

Girls Soccer

St. Margaret's picked up its first win of the 2025-2026 season, blanking cross-town foe Capistrano Valley Christian 4-0 at home on Wednesday.

Megan Mohler had two goals to pace the Tartans over the Eagles. Catherine Chou and Natalie Killer added goals while goalkeeper Paloma Gonzalez kept the clean sheet for the Tartans.

“The team worked hard for each other and executed well in the final third," said head coach Tom Lancaster. "Tactically, we're continuing to build our identity, and this was a good opportunity to put some new ideas into practice."

The 1-2 Tartans will take part in the "Best of the West" tournament this upcoming weekend.
