St. Margaret's Cross Country Teams Excel at Gaucho Invitational

The Tartans fared well in Santa Barbara this past weekend.
St. Margaret's cross country program opened the 2025 campaign at the Gaucho Invitational in Santa Barbara over Labor Day weekend and turned in top-10 performances.

The Tartan girls squad finished in fourth place out of 13 teams despite a challenging start. Sophomore Heidi Beshk led the Tartans, finishing 12th out of 129 in the race.

St. Margaret's boys finished fifth out of 11, an improvement from their seventh-place finish in 2024. Juniors Samarth Wadhwa and Zach Causee, who both finished within 2 seconds of each other, placed 16th and 17th, respectively, out of 79 competitors.

"Coach Good and I were incredibly excited to get the season started and were very happy to see the team compete well. We are always impressed with this group's ability to overcome adversity and lift each other up," said co-head coach Ryan Thompson. "Seeing our girls team support and care for each other speaks volumes about the culture they have created. They will lean on that bond come November when they chase back-to-back CIF titles."

The Tartans will next compete at the Woodbridge Invitational on Friday, September 19.
