St. Margaret's Cross Country Teams Prep for State Competition at Clovis Invitational

The Tartan boys ran to a third-place finish, with the girls finishing seventh.
St. Margaret's cross country program embarked on its annual trip to participate in the Clovis Invitational and came away with impressive results.

The boys varsity team ran a great battle among the top D6 schools in the state, with only 10 points separating the 2nd-, 3rd- and 4th-place teams. The boys finished 3rd on the podium behind Flintridge Prep and Brentwood. Seniors Samarth Wadhwa (16:02.5) and Zach Causee (16:08.4) both led the boys by finishing in the top 10 as individuals.

The girls varsity team also had the opportunity to race some of the top-ranked teams in the state and produced a top-10 finish in the D6 event. Junior Heidi Beshk (21:34.4) and freshman Emma Menchaca (22:04.3) led the girls, both finishing in the top 50 of the 145-runner field.

The Tartans gained valuable experience by facing some of the biggest competition head-to-head for the first time this season on the same course as the CIF State Finals.

St. Margaret's will next compete at the Orange County Championships on Oct. 16 at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado.
