St. Margaret's surf team battled Santa Margarita Catholic High School at Goldenwest Beach in Huntington Beach on Saturday and came away with a decisive 62.5-7.5 win.
Elevated temperatures and small, tricky waves did not deter the Tartans as the contest played out under the annual Pacific Airshow. Brendan Lyons led the Tartans with a first-place finish in the shortboard event, while Colt Ettwein added another strong finish with third place. Continuing the impressive display on the boys side, Sawyer Collins finished second place in the bodyboard competition.
For the girls, Jacquie Shapiro surfed to a second-place finish in the longboard while Chloe Eskander, who normally competes in the shortboard event, filled a vacant slot for the Tartans with a fifth-place overall finish on a longboard. Eskander returned to her usual role and secured a second-place finish in the shortboard to keep the Tartans rolling.
