Tartans Cruise in 40-12 Flag Football Win Over Pacifica Christian OC

St. Margaret's girls flag football program notched its first league win Wednesday, downing Pacifica Christian Orange County 40-12 on Tartan Field.

Quarterback Ella Chin went 35/50 for 412 yds and 6 passing touchdowns to lead the Tartans over the Tritons. Chin connected with receiver Aiyanna Brown for 9 receptions for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win. Lola Beruitch hauled in 9 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown, while Gia Fournier had 4 catches for 27 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zoe Lauderdale rounded out St. Margaret's air attack with 6 catches for 66 yards.

Defensively, Fournier contributed 10 flag pulls and 3 pass deflections, with Berutich pulling down an interception to keep the Tartans on top.

"We're really proud of what this group has accomplished in our first season. Being 9-3 and then getting our first league win is a great milestone for the program. We have a very young team, with 12 of our 15 players being freshmen, and they've continued to improve, compete, and learn every week. They've bought into each other and into what we're trying to build here at St. Margaret's," said head coach Bryan Fournier. "We're excited about where we are right now, but even more excited about the future of this group."

The Tartans will face Irvine High School on the road on Sept. 14 in their second league tilt.
