St. Margaret's Posts Outstanding Results at CIF-SS Track & Field Finals
School records were broken last weekend in Moorpark.
The Tartan Track & Field program wrapped up another successful year of competition in the CIF Southern Section with an appearance at the Div. IV Finals at Moorpark High School on May 16.
St. Margaret's opened the competition in the pole vault with Lia Frick reaching a personal record of 9-07.00 and a 5th-place finish, while Sawyer Collins also finished fifth with a 10-11.00 vault. Ocean Heim jumped to an 8th-place finish (39-05.75) in the triple jump to round out the Tartan field events.
Heim later joined Lucas Monge, Kai Letcher and Cameron White to pull out a 7th-place finish in the 4x100. The squad's time of 43.57 was just .07 seconds shy of breaking their own school record in the event. Charles Martin, White, Monge and Zach Causee then went on to a big 3rd-place finish in the 4x400, breaking a school record with a blistering 3:26.45.
Monge continued to impress during the meet, running a personal best of 40.02 in the 300m hurdles and finishing 2nd just milliseconds behind the leader. Monge's time was fast enough across all divisions to secure an alternate spot for next weekend's CIF Masters Meet.
Zach Causee found the podium in the 1600m final by putting himself in the front early and taking control of the race in a heavily stacked field. Causee set a personal record of 4:22, which was 1 second behind first place.
The boys 4x800 team of Zaiden Gurusamy, Martin, Capelle and Causee ran to a close finish, shattering their own school record by 16 seconds and a result that was 2 seconds (8:08.14) behind the winner.
Finally, Heidi Beshk secured a spot in the final as an alternate in the 1600m and finished 8th (5:24).
