5 Tartans Honored in NCTE Student Writing Awards

The NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing is a school-based program recognizing talented student writers. 
Five St. Margaret’s Upper School students were selected for a 2026 Achievement Award in Writing, given by the National Councils of Teachers in English.

The NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing is a school-based writing program recognizing talented student writers. Sophomores and juniors are eligible to participate. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada, and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate students.

The Achievement Awards have four levels of achievement: First Class, Superior, Excellent and Merit. In total, three Tartans received top “First Class” honors, while two more received “Superior” designation. The students are:
  • Luke Meggers, First Class
  • Aya Sutton, First Class
  • Ryan Xu, First Class
  • Bella Mandujano, Superior
  • Stella Ye, Superior
