Tartan Track & Field Impresses at Pacific Coast League Championships

St. Margaret's boys brought home first place, while the girls finished second.
St. Margaret's track & field program wrapped up league competition this week at the Pacific Coast League Finals and came away with solid results.
 
On the boys side, St. Margaret's scored 113 points, firmly securing a first-place finish and eclipsing runners-up Irvine High School by 40 points.
 
Cameron White notched the Boys Track Athlete of the Year and League MVP awards, turning in a dominant performance on the Track. White was the Individual League Champion in the 100m and 200m and helped pace the league champion 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. White scored a combined 24 points, the maximum an athlete can score at a meet, earning him St. Margaret's Athlete of the Meet Award.
 
For the girls, a 60-point second-place finish closed out the league slate for the Tartans. Aleah Berengian placed first in the shot put and discus, earning Girls Field Athlete of the Year and securing crucial team points for the Tartans.
 
Mckynzie Grogan was a workhorse for St. Margaret's, winning both the 100m and 200m events while contributing to the 4x100m and 4x400m teams to score a combined 16 points in the meet. Grogan shared Athlete of the Meet honors with Arianne Bruckner, who captured gold in the high jump and triple jump events and finished in third place in the 100m. Bruckner also competed for the Tartans as a member of the 4x400m team. Bruckner tallied 17 points in the meet.
 
St. Margaret's sends 16 individual athletes and 3 relay teams to the CIF-SS Prelims next weekend in Carpinteria.
