St. Margaret's Names Caleb Martin as Boys Basketball Head Coach
Martin was most recently an assistant at Vanguard University.
St. Margaret's is pleased to announce the appointment of Caleb Martin as head coach of the Tartan boys basketball program.
Martin has been an assistant at NCAA Div. II Vanguard University since 2024, helping the men's program to its first PacWest Conference Tournament berth in Vanguard's first season of eligibility. Martin played a key role in the Lions' rise to No. 9 in West Region Rankings as well as a No. 5 finish in the PacWest Conference.
Prior to his time at Vanguard, Martin served as a boys assistant varsity and head junior varsity basketball coach at Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City. Martin assisted in the Wolverines' 2023 and 2024 CIF Open Division State and Regional Championships, and set a school record of 33 wins in both seasons.
"This is a truly special opportunity, and I'm incredibly honored to be the next boys basketball coach at St. Margaret's Episcopal School. I want to thank Dan O'Shea and the entire staff for the opportunity. I am excited to build on the school's mission and cultivate a basketball brand that is distinctly recognized. We will build this program on a foundation of enthusiasm, toughness, service, and accountability – developing young men who represent this school the right way on and off the court," said Coach Martin. "I've been fortunate to be part of building winning programs in my previous tenures, and will bring that same level of discipline, drive and competitive edge here. Our vision is clear: build a program our community is proud of!"
Martin is also a player development coach and trainer for Rize Management, a full-service sports and entertainment management firm. Coach Martin has worked with numerous players at the high school and collegiate levels over the years who have gone on to play college and professional basketball.
Martin competed collegiately in basketball for Pepperdine University (2016-2018) and at the high school level for The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks.
"It is a pleasure to announce the hiring of Caleb Martin as our new head coach for the boys' basketball program. Caleb brings over nine years of high school and college coaching experience at premier basketball programs here in Southern California. Along with his collegiate playing career at Pepperdine, Caleb has been part of building winning programs throughout his career," said St. Margaret's Director of Athletics Dan O'Shea. "We welcome Caleb and his family to Tartan Athletics."
