Tartan Lacrosse Programs Notch Wins in Final Regular Season Home Games
St. Margaret's took on Irvine and Dana Hills on Monday Afternoon.
St. Margaret's boys and girls lacrosse programs capped their regular-season home stands with wins on Monday, defeating Irvine and Dana Hills High Schools, respectively.
Boys Lacrosse
The Tartans poured it on in a 23-2 league win against visiting Irvine High School.
St. Margaret's jumped out to a quick start with Jack Shea (1g, 1a) finding the net just 35 seconds into the game. Ryan Kees (3g, 1a), Andrew Toubin (3g, 1a) and Carson Barber (5a) led the Tartans' offensive output, while Aston Frankfort (3g), Carter Stanley (3g), Arya Saidi (2g), Cob Sprague (1g), Hudson Locke (1g) and Graham Holcomb (1g) contributed to the win.
Also appearing on the scoresheet for the first time this season were Costa Canelos (2g), Liam Griffin (1g), Sammy Grant-Lewis (1g) and Declan Harney (1g).
Hudson Locke and Costa Canelos combined for 24 wins at the faceoff x.
Senior goaltender George Knapp made 2 saves for the Tartans.
The 14-2 Tartans look to close out the regular season against 12-5 Mater Dei on the road on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m.
Girls Lacrosse
St. Margaret's downed Dana Hills 14-2 in non-league action on Tartan Field Monday evening.
The Tartans controlled the game early, with a strong offensive effort and disciplined defensive play. Izzy Samluk had a standout performance, contributing 5 goals in the one-sided win. Abbey Chez (3g), Taylor Tomlinson (2g), Gigi Gallegos (2g), Natalie Killer (1g) and Lauren Driver (1g) paced the Tartan attack.
Samluk, Driver, Tomlinson and Gallegos controlled the midfield play, keeping the Tartans in possession all afternoon while collectively securing 13 draw wins.
Ella Djavaherian, Amina Khan, and Elle McCallister anchored the defensive effort with the unit causing 6 turnovers to keep the Dolphins on the back foot. Goaltender Avery Lind allowed only 2 goals with the support of defenders Stef Vazquez and Cate Hemming.
The Tartans will conclude the regular season on April 22, facing non-league foe El Toro High School on the road.
