Tartan Beach Volleyball Picks Up First Win of the Season

St. Margaret's slipped past Marina 4-1 Thursday.
St. Margaret's girls beach volleyball program and newly minted head coach Alyson Fullbright took home the first win of the 2026 campaign Thursday, upending Marina High School 4-1 at Golden West College.

The pair of Elena Wang and Ella Bertolino led off for the Tartans, keeping the Vikings to single-digit scores and clinching St. Margaret's first pair win. Chloe Wainwright and Emmery Ambe had strong serving runs and kept Marina guessing in both sets to notch the Tartans' second pair win.

Sami Duran and Peyton Cruse solidified St. Margaret's streak while Charlotte Sele and Serena Torrance went overtime in both sets (25-23, 24-22) to seal it for the Tartans.

"So proud of how all our pairs showed up for this match!" said coach Fullbright. "They kept their feet on the gas pedal, made great in-game strategy calls and played with true heart."

The 1-1 Tartans will next take on Crean Lutheran in non-league action on Feb. 26.
