St. Margaret's Student-Athletes Commit to Top Colleges During Winter Signing Period

Eight Tartans from the Class of 2026 have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at a range of prestigious colleges and universities.
St. Margaret's Episcopal School is pleased to announce that eight student-athletes from the Class of 2026 have committed to play intercollegiate athletics next year during the winter National Signing Period.
 
“Signing day is such a tremendous honor for those student-athletes who have aspired to continue their athletic endeavors at the college level. For all athletes across the country, today is the culmination of endless hours of hard work and the refinement of their exceptional skill set," said St. Margaret's Director of Athletics Dan O'Shea. "In the ever-changing landscape of college athletics that includes transfer portals and NLI agreements these days, this accomplishment of securing a signing day commitment is profound."
 
Mason Allison, University of Puget Sound
 
Mason Allison, a four-year varsity starter for St. Margaret's boys soccer program, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Div. III University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.
 
Mason, who served as a two-time varsity captain in soccer, led the Tartans to a CIF Final and State Semifinal appearance in 2025. An accomplished goalkeeper, Mason earned All-CIF honors for his efforts during the 2024-2025 season. Mason also has competed for the Tartans as a member of St. Margaret's football and track & field programs.
 
At St. Margaret's, Mason has served as a Peer Counselor and a volunteer for Special Camp, supporting fellow Tartans and community members with humility and a willingness to put others ahead of himself.
 
Mason intends to major in exercise science at Puget Sound.
 
Mitchell Allison, University of Puget Sound
 
Mitchell Allison, a Pacific Coast League Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, has decided to continue his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Div. III University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.
 
Mitchell has been a four-year varsity starter and three-time varsity captain for the Tartans soccer program, helping to lead St. Margaret's to a 2025 CIF Final and State Semifinal appearance. Notably, Mitchell received All-CIF recognition in 2025 in both soccer and football for the Tartans.
 
Mitchel has volunteered his time as a Peer Counselor at St. Margaret's, is a member of the school's Honor Committee, and has supported Special Camp as a counselor.
 
Mitchel plans to major in general education at Puget Sound.
 
Zaiden Gurusamy, Bates College
 
Zaiden Gurusamy, a four-year member of the Tartan cross country and track & field programs, has committed to study and run for NCAA Div. III Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
 
Zaiden led the Tartans to qualifying for four consecutive CIF State Cross Country Championships and second-place finishes at the 2022 and 2025 CIF Southern Section Championships. In track & field, Zaiden was a member of the Tartan 4x4 relay team that placed 5th in the 2025 CIF Finals.
 
Zaiden has served the community by hosting summer camps for underprivileged children in San Juan Capistrano, teaching them about different cultures and promoting inclusivity and empathy within the community.
 
In addition to competing for the Bobcats' cross country and track and field programs, Zaiden intends to major in economics and philosophy at Bates.
 
Joyce Li, The University of Chicago
 
Joyce Li has committed to continuing her academic and athletic careers at NCAA Div. III The University of Chicago in Chicago.
 
Joyce led the Tartans to two CIF Southern Section Cross Country Championships in 2023 and 2024 and a runner-up finish in 2025. Joyce is a four-time All-CIF athlete, earning the honor three times in cross country and once in track & field.
 
At St. Margaret's, Joyce serves as the president of the Tartan STEAM Club and as an Admission Ambassador. Joyce recently earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, by recycling over 1,000 pounds of batteries. The effort to tackle the growing problem of household battery waste also earned her a Teen Volunteer of the Year Award. Joyce has also volunteered her time at Mission Hospital and as a counselor at Camp Invention.
 
Joyce plans on majoring in Environmental Science and Molecular Engineering at Chicago.
 
Jessica Liu, Washington University in St. Louis
 
Jessica Liu, a two-time varsity golf captain, has committed to study and play golf at NCAA Div. III Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
 
Over the course of her career at St. Margaret's, Jessica earned four First Team All-League selections, was Pacific Coast League Co-Champion, won 3 Orange Coast League Championships, led the Tartans to two consecutive CIF Southern Section Team Runner-Up finishes, qualified for CIF-SS Regional Individuals four straight years and participated in the Southern California Golfers Association Tournament in 2025. A 2025 AJGA Rolex Scholastic Junior All-American, Jessica ranks amongst the top 30 players in California and the top 150 players in the world in the class of 2026. Recently, Jessica was named a CIF-SS Athlete of Character by the Orange County Athletic Directors Association.
 
Jessica volunteers her time with the Pet Project Foundation in San Clemente and the Boys and Girls Club in San Juan Capistrano.
 
Jessica intends to major in economics at Washington University.
 
Jack Shea, Bentley University
 
Jack Shea, a two-year varsity lacrosse starter for the Tartans, has committed to continue his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Div. II Bentley University in Waltham, Mass.
 
Jack was a 2025 All-Orange County and All-CIF honoree in lacrosse for the Tartans. Jack's midfield play has elevated the Tartans pursuit of a second CIF-SS Championship. Jack has also been a member of the Tartan basketball program the past two seasons.
 
Jack heads the Christian affinity group at St. Margaret's and has volunteered his time at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano and Holy Trinity Church in Ladera Ranch.
 
Jack plans on majoring in finance at Bentley.
 
Andrew Toubin, Bowdoin College
 
Andrew Toubin, a four-year varsity starter in lacrosse, has decided to continue his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Div. III Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
 
Andrew has served as a two-time team captain for the Tartan boys lacrosse program and was a key contributor on the 2024 CIF-SS Div. I Championship squad. Andrew was the Tartans' leading scorer (64g, 46 asst.) in 2025, leading to a Pacific Coast League MVP honor, First-Team All-CIF selection and U.S. Lacrosse All-American accolade. At St. Margaret's, Andrew also served as a team captain for the Tartan football program this past fall and earned All-League honors twice.
 
Andrew leads the Jewish affinity group and is an Admission Ambassador at St. Margaret's. Andrew has also volunteered his time at local food banks and senior living centers.
 
Annika Tufo, Tufts University
 
Annika Tufo, a three-sport athlete for the Tartans, has committed to study and play basketball at NCAA Div. III Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
 
Annika is a three-time All-League honoree, an All-CIF selection, 2024-2025 team co-captain and a top-5 rebounder in St. Margaret's basketball program history. Annika was a key contributor for the Tartans' 2023 CIF-SS Championship and 2024 CIF-SS Runner-Up teams. Also a top member of the Tartan swimming and surf teams, Annika is a CIF Individual Qualifier, League Champion and school record holder in the 200-yd freestyle event in swimming and has finished top-10 in the Scholastic Surf Series the past four years.
 
Annika impacts the community as a Peer Counselor at St. Margaret's and as an Orange County Lifeguard. Annika contributes her time to Ocean Education and Safety, Drains to Ocean and Surfers Healing.
 
Annika plans on majoring in economics at Tufts.
