Boys Varsity Cross Country Squad Takes Second at Laguna Hills Invitational

The Tartans posted fast times and great results this past weekend.
St. Margaret's cross-country program participated in the Laguna Hills Cross Country Invitational on September 27 and achieved impressive results.
 
The Laguna Hills Invitational features grade-level races, as well as separate boys' and girls' championship races. The Tartans varsity boys team of Samarth Wadhwa (15:42.80), Zach Causee (15:43.30), Malcolm Capelle (15:55.20), Zaiden Gurusamy (16:04.00) and Benjamin Harrison (17:05.50) delivered exceptional results against high-level competition, finishing second. The Tartans' 1:22 1-5 split, 16:06 avg put them above Los Alamitos and Aliso Niguel in the finish.
 
The freshman boys cohort of Winston Clampit (17:38.40), Grayson Grzeskowiak (18:43.60) and Parker Oh (18:44.00) set a blistering pace (2:30 1-5 split, 18:52 avg) in the small school division and won the race.
 
Maddux Labovitch led the sophomores with a second-place finish and a 16:55.40 mark. Jimmy Ye ( 18:09.20), Tyler Sant (18:55.70), Patrick Calderon (20:25.20) and Evan Segovia Cisnero (23:54.70) paced the Tartans to a third-place result.
 
For the girls, Heidi Beshk led the sophomores with a first-place finish (20:11.00), while Megan Mohler (21:45.10), Diana Vergara (22:53.20), Addison Oh (23:15.20), Jessica Ramos (32:25.30) and Michell Pelayo-Ayala (32:43.30) cemented the No. 1 spot for the Tartans.
 
"The Laguna Hills Invitational is a true cross country course that offers a glimpse of the talent among the runners we expect to see develop throughout the season," said co-head coach Megan Good. "It was great to see team members from all grade levels show up today ready to race."
 
The Tartans will next race at The Clovis Invitational on October 10.
