Here’s a look at some recent achievements:

Tartan History Club

Upper School students in the student-led Tartan History Club recently traveled to Arlington, Va., to compete in the 2023 International Academic Competitions National Championships.

The National History Bowl is a buzzer-based team history quiz competition with more than 100 regional and state tournaments which lead to a national championship event in April. The Tartan History team qualified by winning the Southern California regional tournament in February.

The St. Margaret’s team included juniors Nate Minton, Levon Alyanakian and Christopher Pelayo-Ayala, and sophomores Chase Springer and Ethan Stolper.

At the national championship, the team won three of five matches in preliminaries and advanced to the upper bracket, ultimately placing in the top third out of nearly 100 teams.

In addition, Nate and Christopher competed individually in the International Geography Bee after placing at the Southern California regionals. Nate advanced to the semifinals and placed 23rd overall.

Ethan also competed individually, representing St. Margaret’s at the junior varsity national championship for the History Bee as an individual.

Congratulations to the Tartan History Club for a great showing!
