Tartan Baseball Sinks Saints 1-0

St. Margaret's notched its first win behind the pitching of Golubow.
St. Margaret's baseball had its first season and first league wins Saturday, downing Santa Ana High 1-0. Andrew Golubow led from the mound, allowing no runs on 4 hits and recording 8 strikeouts over 8 innings.

Andrew Miehe provided the offense, hitting a game-winning solo home run in the top of the 8th. The dinger marks Miehe's seventh career HR, setting him up as the Tartans' all-time home run leader. Sebastian Salazar, St. Margaret's current hitting leader with a .348 batting average, had three hits for the Tartans. Els Page contributed a double and reached base three times after being hit by three pitches.

"Our guys got a badly needed win at Santa Ana on Saturday thanks to an incredible effort by senior Andrew Golubow on the mound when the Tartans needed it most," said head coach Scott Wallis. "This team has been learning how to handle adversity and overcome failures. I'm proud that no excuses have been made, and the team's attitude has stayed quite positive."

The Tartans will next face Saddleback High School at San Juan Sports Park on Tuesday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m.
