Tartan Girls Golf Has Tremendous Week on the Links

St. Margaret's stayed perfect in the face of challenging competition.
St. Margaret's girls golf program made the most of a busy week, preserving its undefeated season and competing against a talented pool at the Walnut Invitational.
 
Walnut Invitational
 
The Tartans proved their mettle and delivered top results at a very competitive field at the Walnut Invitational Golf Tournament held at the California Country Club in Whittier on Monday. St. Margaret's tied for third place with a team score of 388 against highly ranked CIF-SS Div. I opponents.
 
Jessica Liu (70, -2) placed No. 5 individually out of 120 competitors, followed by Gabby Eifrig (73, +1, 12th place), Annie Weng (74, +2, 14th) and Madison Lewis (80, +8, 37th). Eifrig also finished among the top six in the tournament's long drive contest.
 
Ocean View
 
The Tartans notched their 10th consecutive win Tuesday, Downing Ocean View High School 198-311 at San Juan Hills. Gabby Eifrig (35, -1) led, while Annie Weng (36, +0), Jessica Liu (39, +3) and Madison Lewis (43, +7) rounded out the scoring for St. Margaret's.
 
Costa Mesa
 
St. Margaret's kept the unbeaten streak rolling, defeating Costa Mesa High School 197-277 on Thursday. The Tartans' 11th straight win also marked their fifth sub-200 round of the 2023 campaign.
 
Annie Weng delivered an incredible 32 (-4) score to lead all golfers. Gabby Eifrig and Jessica Liu followed close behind, with a 34 (-2) and a 37 (+1), respectively.
 
The Tartans next face Orange High School in South Coast League action on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at River View Golf Course.
