St. Margaret's Appoints Trisha Marx as Next Boys and Girls Volleyball Head Coach

Marx currently serves as an assistant to both of St. Margaret's volleyball programs.
St. Margaret's is pleased to announce Trisha Marx as the next boys and girls volleyball head coach. Marx will replace Bob Yoder, who is stepping down at the conclusion of the fall 2026 girls season.

Marx has been an assistant coach in the Tartan basketball and volleyball programs since 2021, coaching at the Upper School and Middle School levels. Marx has been on hand as a staff member of the 2022 and 2024 CIF-SS Champion boys volleyball teams, as well as the 2023 runner-up squad.

Prior to her time at St. Margaret's, Marx served as head frosh/soph volleyball coach for the boys and girls programs at Tesoro High School from 2017 to 2021. Marx also assisted with the junior varsity and varsity levels for the Titans. From 2014 to 2016, Marx was the head coach of Long Beach City College's beach volleyball club prior to the institution's entrance to intercollegiate competition.

At the club level, Marx coached at Balboa Bay Volleyball Club from 2012-2020 as the 14's head coach and managed the club's 12-and-under program.

"I could not be more excited about Coach Trisha Marx’s appointment to lead the St. Margaret's boys and girls volleyball programs,” said St. Margaret’s Director of Athletics Dan O’Shea. “Trisha brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Tartan athletic community, following a decorated career at the University of California, Irvine. Her successful stints at the club, high school, and collegiate volleyball levels have provided the opportunity for her to build teams that play with an incredible passion and competitiveness that has long been the hallmark of championship teams here at St. Margaret's. We look forward to the 2026 fall season with our girls' team as she assists Bob Yoder in his final season at St. Margaret's."

Marx competed collegiately in volleyball at NCAA Div. I University of California, Irvine (2003-2006) and was a co-captain during the 2006 season. Marx was a 3x Big West Scholar Athlete for the Anteaters.

Marx holds a Master's in Kinesiology from Azusa Pacific University, a B.A. in Social Sciences from UCI, and a single-subject teaching credential in physical education and health.

"I am thrilled to be named as the next head coach of this amazing program and look forward to continuing the level of excellence achieved by Coach Yoder during his tenure. I am honored to work with the Tartan athletes and families, and I am confident that together we will build on the strong foundation that has been established," said coach Marx. "Being involved in both the middle and high school volleyball programs has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to continuing and strengthening the culture of excellence. I am excited to contribute to the continued success of the program here at St. Margaret's.”
