OC Register Recognizes Three Tartans With All-County Cross Country Honors

2018 was a momentous year for St. Margaret's cross country programs, with the Tartans capturing a CIF State title in boys cross country and both boys and girls programs winning a CIF Southern Section title this past November.
The Orange County Register has honored sophomore Jackson Adelman, senior Andi Carnell and head coach Patrick Bendzick, naming all as members of the 2018 Cross Country All-County team.
Jackson Adelman finished the year as the CIF-SS Division IV Champion, State Division IV Runner-Up, and All-CIF-SS/CIF State honoree. Adelman holds the St. Margaret's No. 2 all-time record at the State Championship Course at Woodward Park, Fresno trailing only No. 1 Billy Gaudreau '11 by just 11 seconds.
Andi Carnell wrapped up 2018 as a member of the girls' CIF-SS team champion squad, nabbing All-CIF honors with a third-place individual finish as well as capturing All-CIF State honors with a sixth-place individual finish at the State Championships. Carnell is currently the St. Margaret's No. 1 record holder at Woodward Park.
Patrick Bendzick earned an All-County Girls Team Coach of the Year selection in his fourth season as head coach of the Tartan cross-country programs. In 2018 St. Margaret's girls finished first at the Academy League Finals, won a historic first-ever CIF-SS title and placed second in the CIF State Division IV final, only six points short of the top spot.

Congratulations, Tartans!
