Strong Start For Tartans Girls Basketball Continues With 54-38 Win Over Eastside Christian

St. Margaret's girls varsity basketball team got off to a hot start of the 2018-2019 season, amassing an 8-1 record heading into the middle of the season.

“The girls are steadily working hard and have had early success due to the strong leadership by our seniors, Stephanie Amoukhteh, Maddie Barkate and Niki Miles," said head coach Nicole Riscica. "We hope to continue this success taking one game at a time.”

Against Eastside Christian this week, sophomore Jordy Miles had 10 points and 17 rebounds, Niki Miles had 20 points and five steals while Maddie Barkate had a complete game with 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Alice Korolev has been key to the outside shooting knocking down four three-pointers in the game against Eastside. On the defensive side, Stephanie Amoukhteh has been solid for the Tartans, keeping opponents off of the score sheet and supporting the play at both ends of the court.

The Tartans will attempt to improve to 9-1 on Friday, Dec. 7 as they take on Orange High School in the Campaigne Center at 4 p.m.
