Grade 6 world history and writing students worked on an interdisciplinary “Heritage Cookbook Project” that explored geographical roots and family history and concluded with a multicultural feast using special family recipes.
Students in St. Margaret’s grade 6 world history and writing classes worked on an interdisciplinary “Heritage Cookbook Project” that explored geographical roots and family history and concluded with a multicultural feast using special family recipes.

The unit, taught by Rian Otto and Owen Beitner, consisted of students interviewing family members and digging into their family history, to be presented in history class. They also crafted a narrative on their favorite family recipe in writing class, which were compiled for a “Heritage Cookbook” to be shared with the Middle School community.
